Who doesn't remember creating and playing with cootie catchers growing up?! Now, you can incorporate this creative, hands-on toy into your classroom!
First, students get a sneak peak of the "behind the scenes" of teaching by learning about Bloom's Taxonomy hierarchy of knowledge. You can have students brainstorm questions within each tier either independently, with a partner, or with a whole group. See provided samples of questions in order to get the gears turning. (Sample questions are based on the novel Journey to Topaz, but you can create your own samples based on your current unit.)
Then, students can color and create their own cootie catcher incorporating different levels of knowledge from Bloom's Taxonomy. Students can use their cootie catchers to review material with peers using the provided worksheet.
Great activity to use as a formative assessment or review!
