This simulation uses the story of a real case scenario at a Mc Donald's to set up a hypothetical collection of DNA samples from four crime suspects and then use the concepts of restriction enzymes and electrophoresis using paper models to determine the identify of the DNA left at the crime scene. This activity is useful for preparing students to do an actual electrophoresis in the classroom or to review following the completion of an actual lab using this equipment. It is also of value to a teacher that does not possess electrophoresis equipment in his or her classroom. The four page activity and answer key are contained in a zip file.
