Product Description
These two pages include information on the Blubber Glove experiment.
To create a blubber glove place one gallon size bag inside of another. Then fill the layer between the two bags with shortening and tape the bags together at the top. This should allow students to place their hands inside of the "glove" without getting shortening on it.
For the experiment, fill a bowl with ice. Ask the students to place their hand inside the bowl for as long as they can. Discuss human's lack of adaptations for arctic conditions. Place the blubber glove on the student's hand and then try the same motion. Students should now be able to endure the cold for much longer.
This form is an assessment for the blubber glove experiment and can be enhanced or simplified for any grade level.
