I don't know about you, but I love writing the blues! These worksheets are a great companion for a blues lesson. They can also be used for sub plans for students with some background knowledge of the blues. Here is what is included:
A teacher or student reads or sings the blues provided while the class answers the questions of the page on the bottom about the song content for review. I have written these stanzas without sheet music, so feel free to improvise the melody!
Write a Blues:
Students write a stanza of their own blues using AAB form, which is explained in the directions. An example is given to label beforehand.
Telling the Story with a Blues:
This worksheet is an example to help students write a blues with a beginning, middle and end. A blues with three stanzas is given that can be read or sung by student or teacher. Notes are given underneath to explain the intention of each stanza.
Students write three AAB blues stanzas that tell a story with a clear beginning, middle and end. Notes are given in parentheses underneath each stanza to remind students what the goal of each stanza should be.
