WORKS FOR ANY NOVEL!
This packet includes all the information you need to assign and grade a project that requires your students to create a game board based on a novel they’ve read recently. Students will need to demonstrate their understanding of the characters, settings, and main events in the story to earn a high grade on this project. This project can be assigned to individual students to complete or to small groups. I find that if students only work on this project while at school, then it takes about 5 hours to complete.
You will notice that two rubrics have been included for the individual project and for the group project version. One rubric totals 100 points, while the other is blank, in case you prefer to come up with your own point values. You will only need to print one of these two rubrics for your students.
After all games have been completed, we have a Game Day in my classroom. Students rotate for the opportunity to play at least 2 other games made by their classmates. You can make this last as long or short as you’d like. I spend a full 45 minutes on Game Day. While students are playing, I grab the rubrics and start grading!
