Is body language truly universal? Are some gestures culturally specific? If you teach international students, you may have already learned some new gestures or observed different body language, but how aware are your students of the differences and similarities? Use the topic cards to supplement a unit on body language/gestures or just as an engaging speaking activity.
Find out what they think and encourage them to use varied expressions for sharing and asking for opinions as well as agreeing and disagreeing. (You may be interested in my Expressions for Opinions resource to ensure that your ESL students can use a good variety of expressions.)
Whether you are teaching a unit on body language/gestures or just need a relatable discussion topic, you’ll be glad to have these topic cards.
