The NGSS standards require that high school Biology students understand how body systems work together. There is a new emphasis on plants as well as animal bodies and also an emphasis on specialized cells within those bodies and their systems. This worksheet/quiz tests for the basics about plants roots, stems and leaves, and basic animal body tissues like epithelial, connective, and muscular tissues. The cross section drawing of the wrist shows a tendon made up of fibers and fibrocytes, which is our example of an animal cell. The palisade cell of the leaf is the chosen plant cell to test plant cell organelles. Students should know that the xylem and phloem are made up of cells that put end-to-end, make up the tubes that carry water and sugar. The blood vessel cross-section makes sure that students understand that more than one type of tissue makes up most organs. A key is provided along with an outline of the lecture. Hope this meets your expectations. You could add a coloring component if you wish.
