Product Description
This 11 slide Power Point presentation will give the high school level artist solid background knowledge of the history of body decoration- tattooing, scarification and dying pigment. It gives the history of the earliest found tattooing on a body, explains the process of tattooing, the purpose of tattooing and scarring in cultures and current trends in body decorations.
I use this Power Point as the lead in to my body casting unit for 3-D art. I have my students choose a culture that they find interesting and use my handouts to independently explore more in depth during a computer lab time. We follow that with another handout for brainstorming design possibilities for a personal tattoo. Students then choose a body part to create a cast from, face, arm or calf/foot. They finally design and paint their tattoo onto the cast body part.
