This is a PowerPoint of a brief introduction to creating Bohr Diagrams. Made at the middle school level - great for any chemistry unit. Discusses what each part of the diagram represents and how to create your own. Also contains two "try it on your own" examples with solutions. 9 slides and 2 pages of reproducible notes for students in PDF format.
This PowerPoint builds on prior knowledge of atomic structure and subatomic particles. There are questions built in to spark review discussions - but if your students have not covered these topics before - they may have a hard time. I have a presentation and notes on atomic structure here
as well as one on reading the information off the periodic table here
. (The periodic table one covers how to find information about an atom based on the atomic mass, number, etc - which is essential to drawing Bohr Diagrams) Bohr Diagram Practice Worksheet coming soon!
