This Power Point is a fun and engaging way to teach our young writers about how to begin their writings with a BANG using dialogue! This is part 3 which includes bold beginning examples with video clips for 4 different texts.
The PPT gains access to a student's prior knowledge about the word dialogue. It leads the students to use the prefix "di" to help them figure out part of the word. There is a hyperlink to the definition for the word dialogue and a sound bit for it as well.
There are 4 video clip examples of bold beginnings using the texts: Duck! Rabbit!, That is Not a Good Idea!, I Want My Hat Back, and Raft.
At the end this PPT gives the opportunity for the students to: Pick a friend, decide who will be friend “A” and friend “B.”
-Friend A, In one sentence tell your friend what your favorite food is.
-Friend B, In one sentence tell your friend what your favorite food is.
Now Friend A and B will repeat what they just said and you will both record it on a whiteboard/piece of paper.
