Research has proven that students need to be reading constantly - not just what we read in class; however, we also understand the struggle of holding students accountable for their at home reading. Not all students will read at home just because a teacher suggests it. So, how do you hold them accountable without a program like Accelerated Reader? Book Assessments. Our packet of book assessment forms requires students to identify and document essential story element information such as the protagonist, antagonist, setting, conflict, theme, plot, etc. Moreover, included in this packet are four different versions of the book assessments we have used requiring students to include information about the author, identify figurative language within the text, and document and explain an essential passage. There is even a form specifically for non-fiction!
