Product Description
Book Bingo is a fun reading program that encourages students to read more at home. The beauty of it is that students' parents take on a lot of responsibility for helping their child complete the program, since parents must look over and sign each of their child's book reports. By witnessing the emphasis that their parents place on reading, students infer the value of reading.

I have included the following items in this resource to allow for customization among 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classrooms.

1. Parent Letters: I wrote one letter to reflect that the Book Bingo program is for a reward, not a grade, and is optional. I wrote another letter to reflect that the Book Bingo program is for a grade. You choose which letter to send home!

2. Book Bingo Sheets: There are two different levels, one for students who read on a 2nd/3rd grade level (labeled ST in the corner for Second and Third) and another one for students who read on a 4th/5th grade level (labeled FF in the corner for Fourth and Fifth). With each level you get 4 different versions. The different versions include some, but not all, of the same books and switch them around so that a student can't read the exact same types of books each time you assign a Book Bingo. You can use the same version all year or change them out each quarter for more variety. That is totally up to you. (Some teachers even add the challenge of scoring a "double bingo" the second half of the year OR for students who need the extra challenge.)

3. Book Report Forms: There are five simple book report forms that students will complete. These include: fiction books, nonfiction books about people, nonfiction books about events, nonfiction books about animals, and nonfiction books about places. You can choose whether students are allowed to complete these at school and home or if you only want them to be completed at home. Either way, students must ask a parent to look over and sign each report. When the student has completed 5 in a row (bingo), they may turn in their folder* to you or hang onto it until the due date; that's up to you.

*In order to keep the program organized, have each student keep a folder labeled Book Bingo to hold all of their sheets.

Please contact me if you would like me to further customize this resource to suit your needs. I can reword parent letters, fill in Book Bingo sheets with books that you want students to read, or change Book Report forms any way you'd like.

Another note: This program can be combined with Accelerated Reader (AR) or ReadnQuiz! Instead of having students fill out book reports, have them take online quizzes for their books at the AR or ReadnQuiz website. If you would like me to reword the parent letters and Book Bingo sheets for you to take advantage of either online tool, let me know and I'd be happy to do so.
