I use book clubs for whole class novels and LOVE the resulting conversations among students. The student resources attached can be used for small group book clubs as well. The teachers at my school consider book club to be "mini Socratic Seminars."
This is an explanation of how I do Book Clubs, the student directions sheet I give, and two Discussion Ideas handouts that I use-- v1 at the beginning, and v2 later in the book. The final page has Discussion Questions that I found online-- but I don't know where so I can't cite them! That's why this is free! I put the page of questions to sustain dialogue on the back of v1 and v2.
I'm also uploading this as a Word document so it can be easily modified (the student directions are personal, about my own book clubs).
I'd be glad to answer any questions about how I do this... some of the organization and grading was figured out the hard way. If you'd like to take a look at the Peer Evaluation, you can find it here: https://goo.gl/forms/Nur8z4gJzbRXPt2q2.
