This resource will help to make your Book Clubs, or Literature Circles, run easily and productively! Instead of letting students "go" so quickly, I like to run my groups more nontraditionally. For example, there are a set of skills we all need to hit during our guided reading groups. This resource is full of all of those skills, in organizer form. I will assign a part of the text or chapter for students to read and take 10 to 15 minutes to do an organizer together that focuses on a particular skill. Then students will read another section and complete another organizer on their own, already having a model of how to do it. They can meet with groups at that time if needed.
This procedure makes it easy to differentiate among your students because they can work together, you can still meet with groups to discuss their progress on the skill, etc.. All the organizers are set up the same way, in a four-square method. This makes it easy for students to do also because it's a familiar set up for them each time. This resource includes two parts: Fiction and Nonfiction Organizers.
