First two minutes cover a Characters Unit then you get to see the Book Club unit in its entirety
This is an outstanding 17 page Book Club unit that fits perfectly for ANY 4th-8th grade class working with book clubs or literature circles. This is a VERY comprehensive resource that provides the specific structure and organizational requirements for the Book Club/ Literature Circle format. There are a couple of sessions to get students started. e.g. Writing a Book Constitution, Book Club Mission Statement, and using pre-reading strategies to engage prior knowledge. Each session then gives students leading questions to help begin their discussions. Sections in the resource are provided for students to monitor their thinking, record the key points of their discussions and plan for the next book club/literature circle meeting. In addition, the resource comes with supplemental material covering word banks useful for book club discussions, a list of the major themes in literature, and an end of unit presentation project guidelines. No adaptations or preparation whatsoever are required from any teacher using this resource. just print it and photocopy a class set and you have enough material for a whole month of book club or literature circle work. This is a very low price for such a comprehensive resource!
