How do you explain a book fair to students who have never seen one? This PDF presentation explains to preschool and kindergarten students what a book fair is by comparing it to a bookstore. After participating in a think-pair-share about bookstores, students will learn basic facts about book fairs. These facts (types of books, bringing money to pay for books) are applicable to any school book fair. Included in this presentation are three math problems to help students understand the concept of having enough money to purchase books at the book fair. These math problems also include a discussion prompt to help guide students to think about appropriate reactions when not having enough money or being able to purchase something. At the conclusion of the presentation is a slide to transition to previewing books at the upcoming book fair.
