Last year was our first annual, "Book Fair" in the spring. Our 3rd graders planned and designed a presentation board about two favorite books they had read - a fiction and a non-fiction. After the posters were finished, we set a movie-themed book fair for their parents and other family members. The posters were displayed side-by-side so the student could stand with their boards and answer questions about their boards. This was very successful! We plan to add elements each year - since it is set as a movie theme, ideas include a red carpet as they arrive or serving popcorn.
Included in this purchase are planning packs for both fiction and non-fiction for all three grade levels (3rd, 4th, 5th), a letter to the students, the parents, a supply list, a layout page and a 100 point scoring sheet. I have also added some pictures of my 3rd graders' posters they created!
There are 10 pages for non-fiction, 10 pages for fiction for each grade level.
Tips: On the first poster, we had the kids cut apart their heading and answer (Heidi pic). Found out that it is MUCH easier to keep them together (wolf pic)!
We also discovered a LOT of rubber cement was much better for keeping the paper on the back - we went through MANY MANY glue sticks and they would dry before we were able to get the background paper on!
