HOW TO USE THIS FLIP BOOK WITH YOUR STUDENTS:
1. Use as a reading journey over a semester/year-long class.
Students can ‘document’ their reading journey, as they work through the various genres. This could be done independently during class time or for homework.
2. Set a reading goal to explore different genres (independently).
This would be a great way for students to explore and experience new titles to add to their reading repertoire. Give students a colored, genre ‘stamp’ once a page is completed in the designated section on the page, have students color the stamp when completed, or use an entirely different sticker to put over the stamp as a means to show completion for their efforts.
3. Set a reading goal to explore different genres (as a class).
As a class, you can work your way through different titles, whether as a whole-class study, independently, or a mixture of both.
*It is not expected that students will necessarily complete the entire book (although some may). This flip book is a way for students to experience a new type of genre that they would not have otherwise selected. In addition, this is a fun and interactive way to set new reading goals.
