This form is used to document each step of interaction when teaching children with special needs to interact and follow along with reading books. Children can find it hard to focus or attend a story, however, when each step of reading a book is broken down and teachers/parents can identify where the child looses interest, we can then work on those steps to teach the skill of interacting with a book. Some of these steps include:
1. Picking up/reaching for a book
2. Turning pages
3. Pointing to items throughout the story
. Requesting a story to be read
These skills can initiate story reading and book interaction which can be identified as foundation skills that lead to speech, communication and interactions with others.
