Description

This includes 10 different pages for 10 different children's books. For these lessons, I tell my kindergartners we are going to listen to a familiar story, but with a math focus. I present the question at the top of the page (How many legs are in the story Brown Bear?) and give them a clipboard, a pencil, and a copy of the page.

As I read, the students keep track of the data. At the end of the story, we have a discussion about what each child thinks the answer is, and why? Lot of great discussions come up! "Does Miss Bindergarten count when you tally girls/boys in the class?" "Did you count the friendly ladybug twice?".

The stories included are:
Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten
Rainbow Fish
Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed
The Grouchy Ladybug
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie
Owl Babies
The Gingerbread Baby
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?

Let me know if you have any questions! I plan to add more story sheets soon!
