I use this worksheet at the beginning of the year or any time students need to choose a new book from my shelf. I choose several that I want to highlight (enough for each class member) and each student gets one. Students read the title, back cover, and first few pages. I usually give about 5 minutes each. Then I give them time to rate the book they just scanned. When the timer rings, they pass their book to the next student and rate the next book they are given. This provides them with a list of books that they would like/dislike to read based on their rating. Can be used with multiple grades.
