Great for working on stamina in independent reading! Can also help students understand when a book isn't quite right for them. I used these with 4th, 5th, and 6th graders to plan the pages to read at school and at home based on the theory that they should be able to read about one page a minute if the book was a good match. If they were going much, much too slowly, we worked together to figure out why. Some kids hated having to do this, but others loved the self-accountability so much that they kept it up all year.
