Tired of book reports? Most importantly, are your students tired of book reports? Teachers read book reports, not students. In my classroom, the best way to get students to read a book is to get one of their friends to recommend it.

I use this Book Recommendation form in my classroom as a way for students to share about the books that they have read. Keep them in a binder on the library shelf, post them on a bulletin board, and give extra credit or bonus points for filling out Book Recommendation forms. While your students are talking about books, you can do a little informal checking on their skills and comprehension.
