This file contains a form that students can use to recommend books to classmates, a sample form and discussion questions to be used in explaining how to use the form for both fiction texts and informational texts, and a form with a space for drawing the reader's favorite part of the text.
These recommendation forms can be displayed on a bulletin board, or used as the basis for partner or whole group discussions of great books. It can also be used as a reader's response activity following independent reading.
Students should be encouraged to make their comments specific. Instead of simply saying that something is funny, they can talk about the parts of the book that were funny.
Reader recommendations would also be highly appropriate for a library setting, or within a classroom library.
