Product Description
Book reports with a crafty twist. Book reports are a great tool to ensuring your students are reading and comprehending the text.This is a three-part project. Read a STUDENT SELECTED fiction book. Then, write a booklet using the topics that YOU choose. The last step is to create a brown bag backpack that is filled with household objects that represent the themes, main ideas and events. An oral presentation rubric is included for use.

How It Works! Each student will select and read a fiction book. After reading, the student will create, write and develop a three-part project.

Book Selection: Choose a grade level, appropriate fiction book. Book will need to be approved prior to starting the project.

Reading Completion: Book needs to be read in order to start working on project.

Brown Bag Backpack: Using the instruction sheet, construct the art/craft project based on the guidelines.

Booklet Completion: Using the attached template, create a booklet. The booklet needs to be completed after assembly. Booklet will be placed in “brown bag” backpack. Booklet is due with the back pack.

Backpack Fillers: Select 3-5 household objects to fill the backpack. These objects will need to represent main ideas, themes or events from the book. Due with backpack.

Oral Presentation/Discussion: Provide a brief summary of book and explain the objects that were chosen to be included.
