Product Description
This product has everything you need to assign 5 different book reports to your students. Your students can complete these at home or at school. This is a great way to get your kids reading novels and responding to literature in a fun way!

Each of the four book reports includes:
-Instructions for the student and parents
-Printables for completing the project
-A rubric for grading

The four reports included are:
-The Canned Book Report
-Book Talk
-Biography Book Report
-Character Poster
-Read Carpet Book Awards

One of these reports is an oral book report/book talk. The students use the planning sheet to write notes as they read their book. They have to finish statements such as, "My favorite character was ____ because...." and "You'll want to find out...". They also are told to bring in a prop that represents something in the book. Not only is there a planning guide for students, but a detailed letter to parents about what is expected (I use this as an at-home project.), and a rubric for grading. There is also a character poster book report that has students making a poster with four sections. In one section they have to make a personal connection with the character for example. Again, this comes with papers to help the students plan, a note to parents, a picture of a sample poster layout, and a rubric. The canned book report has students taking a can, drawing a picture from the book on paper and wrapping it around the can. They then make a glossary and a little booklet of story elements that go in the can. Included are papers that can be cut apart and turned into the story element booklet, a parent letter, and a rubric. For the biography book report students answer some questions, draw a picture, and make a simple timeline on the back.

I have recently added the "Read Carpet Book Awards" to this bundle. This has become a third grade tradition at our school, and the students love it. They give their book some kind of award like "Most Suspensful Plot" or "Most Likable Character". We even roll out the red carpet (red butcher paper)!
