I created this book report to compliment the "Children of War" unit I teach. Students are instructed to choose a book that is set during a time of war. The report is tailored specifically to this and also requires a little research about the author to evoke understanding of the author's purpose for writing the book while also making real-world connections. Students are required to identify difficult words and research the meanings; cite relevant parts or events from the text and explain the significance of each; summarize the plot and make inferences about the characters; and also write a reflection about how the book possibly connects to their own lives.
I hope you and your students enjoy!
