If you are someone who assigns books to be read outside of class or independently, this assignment will provide your students with an excellent vehicle for producing both a written verification of that reading as well as something suitable for a portfolio, school anthology, online literary magazine, or even a local newspaper.
This assignment does not follow the standard book report format. Instead, it asks the student to discuss the book in ways that require thinking beyond simple recall of characters and plot; thus, it meets many of the common core standards for both reading and writing about literature--fiction or nonfiction.
If you take a look at the preview, you'll see that it also has some built-in flexibility for the teacher and provides the student with opportunities for expressing his or her unique point of view.
Thanks for considering Tim's Tool Box.
