Inspired by the 40 book challenge from Donalyn Miller's The Book Whisperer, I wanted to make something that was easy for my students to use to track their novels but also something that was fun and engaging for them to do. So I adapted her suggestions in to our "Class Reads" bulletin board, which includes this packet!
For my Class Reads Bulletin Board, we created a class wide graph to keep up with our challenge, along with a place to keep full reviews using my free differentiated review sheets [http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Book-Review-Organizers-852620], a list of the genre requirements for the class, and our "Book Review" binder where every student can list each book they've read for the year. The students love tracking the amount of books they've read and reading their friends' reviews for new book suggestions. It also gives me a quick way to see how many books students have read and if they're keeping a 50/50 split between fiction and nonfiction since our graph is color coordinated.
In this packet, you will find 8 different versions of a "Book Review" log sheet for the class. Each sheet has a place for students to list the title and author, genre, rating, and a quick review. I have included sheets for a 40, 30, 20, or 10 book challenge, along with six different colored cover choices to choose from. I've also included two titles - one for teachers who are doing the challenge and one for teachers who just want a place for students to review their books.
