This product supplies you with everything your students are going to need to get to the perfect final draft of a book review!
1. It includes a questionnaire that I have my students fill out as soon as they select the book they want to review. They have to answer all the questions with as much detail as possible (and it will make writing the actual review so much easier because they can pull all their ideas from this questionnaire). The questions are included as well as a few tips to get students thinking about the concept of a book review.
2. The template itself helps students chunk their ideas into a logical format. It forces them to write about different elements of the book so that their review covers many aspects of the book. I use this template as my students' rough draft of their book review.
*6 elements are included in the template: hook your reader, summarize the book, describe your favorite part/element, explain a life lesson the book teaches, evaluate the book (what elements make it great?), and finally the conclusion/recommendation.
3. The "teacher copy" includes some questions in red that I ask my students to think about as they are completing that particular section. This helps them give a more thorough answer.
4. A lined template is included as well. A lot of my students prefer this to help their writing stay neat and organized.
After my students have filled out this whole template, we go through some peer editing/recommendations. Then we type it up as a final draft (or sometimes just a draft #2 to edit again). As they type it up, students must use transition words between the chunked sections so that they flow together.
