--A form for students to review a book they have read. Three basic sections asking student to describe the protagonist; summarize the story; and would they recommend it to a friend (why or why not). Students also give the book a star rating.
--The second page is the form filled out for use as an example for younger readers or as a modification for SpEd students.
--I have students use this form many times over the course of the year, and, incorporate what they learn into their writing in the form. For example, if we just did a unit on transitional words, they have to use transitional words the next time they review a book.
--I also make students complete this before preparing for an oral report on a text. It acts as a graphic organizer to organize what they might say in their oral presentation.
--Or, a quick and easy way to do this is to have students read then review short stories on this form.Example: We study semi-colons, then students read a short story (anything), then when they use this form to review the story they are must use semi-colons in their review!
