PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

What are some books you have read that you strongly liked? What are some books that you strongly disliked? Everyone has opinions about what they read. Writing a book review is a way to share your opinions about a book.

A book review has these features:

It states the writer's opinion about the book.
It provides a short summary of the book.
It gives clear reasons that support the writer's opinion.
It often ends with a recommendation to readers.

This lesson teaches students how to write a book review using wordless picture books. Beginning with wordless picture books, scaffolds the process so students can then start to write reviews for any book they are reading. This is a great lesson for opinion writing using the Common Core Standards grades 2, 3, 4 and 5.

This lesson engages all levels of learners.
