This is a good way for students to report about a book they have read. It requires that they look for new vocabulary, identify problems characters encountered and their solutions, write a review, create a comic strip to summarize the plot, etc.
How to set up the book cover
Fold an 11x17 piece of paper and have students draw a cover for the book on the right hand side of the paper. On the left hand side use my printable to identify up to four main characters from the story.
On the inside of the 11x17 piece of paper on the left hand side use my problems and solutions printable to have students identify three problems from the story and how they were solved. On the right hand side use my plot summary printable to create a short comic strip about the story plot.
I have flaps for the book cover as well. On the left hand flap I have a printable for the book reviewer on one side and a text to self comparison on the other side. For the right hand flap I have a vocabulary printable for one side and a short review printable for the other side.
The flaps can be taped onto the book cover. I have an example to show you how it looks completed. I like to laminate the final product and add it to their ELA binder.
