I wanted students to learn to talk about books in more meaningful ways than to give reports or create dioramas. This download provides one page that students can fill in and one page with the questions only.
I usually have students complete the handout one or two times to get used to the format. Then, we take the questions and write posts on a class blog. I cut up the questions into strips for anyone who needs them. After they complete the blog posts, I have them go in and read other posts and comment. Students really love talking about books this way. I've also invited parents and educators to join in on discussions. We once had an author pop up and write a comment to a student. THAT was incredible!
This activity works well middle school students: SpEd - GT. I ask advanced students to include text evidence.
