This is a perfect book to read and introduce students to the parts of a book the first weeks of school.
This book study is a lesson and activities on
Know the Parts of a Book by Janet Piehl. It gives details about the key parts of a nonfiction book; author, table of contents, glossary, index, and many more. Though the book is geared more toward nonfiction, you can easily use the basics for fictional reminders as well!
This would also be a great lesson for those students who are starting research projects. Nonfiction can be overwhelming for students but knowing and understanding what they are looking for and at helps tremendously!
