Product Description
This product includes the Book Talk form for students and a rubric for teachers to use for grading the project. I used book talks as a book report type project in my 4th grade classroom. To model this, I gave a Book Talk about a book that I was getting ready to use as a read aloud. I wanted to model to them how it was like a conversation about the book to get others interested in what I had been reading. After introducing the form I used to plan my thinking about the book I had read, students were asked to sign up on a calendar for a day of the month that they wanted to give their Book Talk. I told them that no more than two students could give a Book Talk in one day and that they must give at least one book talk for the month (but were more than welcome to give as many as they wanted as long as they were reading quality on level books). Students were really excited to get to talk about the books they were reading and I found that students were asking very valid and in depth questions to each other about their books as they shared.
