Product Description
Get your students interested in reading by hearing from their peers! This Book Talk project is a spin on a traditional book report that asks students to think more analytically about their reading. Students will read a book of their choosing and then convince their classmates to read it as well. Students are instructed NOT to focus merely on summarizing the book, but to talk about characters, conflict, theme, personal connections, and more!

Included is a detailed instruction page for students that explains how to conduct a 2-3 minute book talk, a grading rubric, and a sign up page you can post in your classroom.

If you are interested in more specific, themed Book Talk projects:
Book Talk book report: Character Change This Book Talk focuses on how and why a character changes through a novel. Suggested book list included.
Book Talk book report: Paired Texts This Book Talk asks students to pair a nonfiction text with a fictional book and explain the pairing.
Book Talk book report pack This bundle has all my Book Talks, including the above and also projects specifically geared to biographies, nonfiction texts, and an author study.
