Product Description
Book Talks are a fun way to increase excitement about your books, and give students a low-stakes chance to practice their Speaking and Listening skills. At the end of every school year, I ask my students what they remember and enjoyed about the year, and Book Talks are an assignment that students rave about year after year.

This is a basic assignment overview for 'Book Talks'. It introduces the expectations, gives some ideas for students to consider, and includes a very simple criteria check-list and scoring guide. I also have a one-page 'Books I Want To Read' handout that my students put in their Interactive Notebook. They fill it out as they listen to other students' Book Talks, and at the end, they have tons of ideas for what they might want to read next!

I'm making the assignment edit-able as a Word Doc, so you can change it to fit your needs. I'm constantly changing the scoring guide and check-list based on what my students need to work on in terms of their speaking skills.

This product would be perfect for an upper elementary or middle school English Language Arts or Advisory class.
