"Book in a Bag" is an activity that I use to reinforce reading fluency and comprehension skills. I find old leveled readers, A-Z booklets, or anything that is on that particular student's independent reading level and I send it home in a plastic, gallon size, zip-lock baggie with their name written on it in black Sharpie. The student keeps it at home for a week and returns it the next week for a new book. This way, I know that they are reading books at home that are on their own reading level. Included in this file is a parent note, a sheet of reading slips to be signed by parents for holding students accountable, and a list of comprehension questions that I usually keep inside the bag at all times.
