This debate project was a blast for my U.S. History students, and it broke up the (sometimes) monotonous walk through the progressive era. Using this handout, your students can participate in a debate over the views of Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. DuBois and how they approached the issue of civil rights. This graphic organizer makes it easy for your students to know what to research and what role to play in the debate, and it makes it easy for you as a teacher to keep track of which group members are completing their work! It can last as long as two class periods, and makes for an engaging and enjoyable project.
This resource is designed for high school students, grades 9-12, and can take 1-2 class periods to complete.
