Lotus and Feather, by Ji-li Jhang is an endearing story about a young girl who rescues an injured crane and nurses it back to health. She has a special bond with her grandpa and the crane. Together, the three characters save their neighbors from a flood. The story highlights the main character's courage and compassion. It is based on a true story.
This lesson is aligned with Common Core State Standards (CCSS) as well as Virginia SOLs.
