This is the second in a series of song collections I am creating for Boomwhackers. Each song is arranged so that squares and rectangles are used rather than notation, with each color representing a particular Boomwhacker, and the length of the square or rectangle representing the number of beats. This is intended to be used as an introduction to reading music for younger students. The songs are set up to be read left to right, top to bottom, so that as students get more comfortable with the tracking required to play each song, they will build their note reading skills for standard notation as well. I use this to scaffold students into reading actual notation, as well as to give an easy way to play various songs on Boomwhackers.
These songs are a mixture of traditional songs and original compositions. They are arranged in order of difficulty, so that the easiest is first and most difficult is last. This collection is entirely songs built on C Major Pentatonic.
