In this editable powerpoint presentation, students can composer their own boomwhacker and bell songs using pentatonic or full scale. I have included the following:
*3 line staff for younger students with pentatonic boomwhacker colorings
*3 line staff for younger students with pentatonic bell colorings
*5 line staff pentatonic with boomwhacker colorings
*5 line staff pentatonic with bell colorings
*5 line staff full scale with boomwhacker colorings
*5 line staff full scale with bell colorings
*Fixed and moveable do options (both colorings using a middle C note)
*2 Name that tune examples (Jingle bells and It's Raining It's pouring, both colorings)
*Solfege and Note name options for fixed do
With this powerpoint you can use your smartboard or projector to have students compose a song as a class, or you can do individual songs and then transfer them to your own slides. With my classes I have a few kids pick notes, then we try playing it taking turns with the bells/boomwhackers. Each time a new group of students come up to play, I ask if there's anything they'd like to add. By the end of the lesson we have a really cool song that the class has written. I made this powerpoint so that I could keep all their compositions in one file.
You can also use this powerpoint to make your own sight reading activities or name that tune.
I've included both colorings because I know that personally sometimes I like to use bells and other times boomwhackers depending on what I'm carrying on my cart. It is unfortunate that they couldn't make them the same colors! If you only have one or the other feel free to edit the powerpoint to fit your classroom!
