My graphics, lessons, activities, books and curriculum are developed from the color-coding system used with Boomwhackers.
This is the conductor score for "Boomwhacker Ensemble" You can purchase the (3) different Boomwhacker books which include (1) Quarter Note Beat Ensemble (2) Eighth Note Beat Ensemble and (3) Boomwhacker Ensemble. Various digital options are available here on TPT.
Quarter Note Beat Ensemble teaches early learners about quarter note rhythms. The eight rhythms can be used as music and motion activities. Students can sit down or stand up as they clap or stomp the rhythm. When they learn the rhythms you can create many different games to play in the classroom.
In my classroom experience, I discovered that teaching early learners (age 3 & up) with colors helps them to visualize the notes, lines and spaces on my Treble Clef mats, C-Diatonic Scale, Chromatic Scale, Boomwhacker Bowling, Boomwhacker Putt Putt, Boomwhacker Ensemble, Note Tiles. They quickly learn written notes when you start teaching them about lines and spaces with a visible color. They will transition into black and white later. It’s like training wheels on a bicycle. For early learners (age 3 up) I’m amazed how fast they will learn to sight-read notes on a staff with this method.
The Boom Whackers can also be a very useful performance instrument and teaching tool to help reinforce my teaching concept.
