Do your kids struggle with those bossy "r" words? I know mine do.
To help my kiddos out, I made this fun St. Patrick's Day themed game!
Object of the Game:
Get rid of all the cards in your hand.
How to Play:
Deal 5 cards one at a time, face down to each player.
Flip over the top card of the deck. If a “Bossy Leprechaun” is flipped over place it in the middle of the unturned draw pile and choose another card.
Ready to Start:
Each player must place one card face up on the starter pile while saying their “Bossy Leprechaun” word.
Twist: add in some accountability. This is optional. If someone says their word wrong while putting it down someone can catch them—they must say “Sneaky Leprechaun” and then say the word correctly. The player who played the card must put it back in their hand to try again later.
Each card played (other than a “Bossy Leprechaun”) must match the card showing on the starter pile.
Unable to Play:
If a player is unable to play, they must draw a card from the draw pile until a play is possible. If they have drawn everything from the draw pile and are still unable to play they must pass.
*A player may draw from the draw pile, even if they are able to play.
All “Bossy Leprechauns” are wild! They may be played at any time during a turn. When playing a “Bossy Leprechaun” the player must specify the new “Bossy Leprechaun” or Bossy R—ar, er, ir, or, or ur. The next player must play either a card of the specified “Bossy R” or a “Lucky Leprechaun”.
I hope your kids have fun mastering those bossy "r" words!
