This product is intended for explicit phonics instruction with R-controlled (Bossy R) syllables. You will find materials that support student learning and memory with this skill, including the following:

* Rules posters that will appeal to visual learners and promote memory for all students.
* Drill cards for building fluency with r-contolled syllables in isolation
* Instructions for creating an easy-to-assemble flip chart as well as 40 blending cards to use when compiling the flip chart.
(NOTE: You will need to supplement this product with a 3-ring binder in order to create the flip-chart as explained within the file. The blending cards may be used without the binder, so they are still valuable even if you choose to use them on a separate blending board or on a tabletop.)
* A sort activity that features pictures and words for identifying r-controlled syllables.
* A student recording sheet and answer key for the sort activity so you could use it as an assessment if desired.
* Rules poster to explain the function of -er and -or as suffixes.
* Word-building activity page that focuses on words with -er and -or as suffixes as well as the word meanings.

Throughout this product, I utilized a font that is supportive for children with dyslexia, so these materials should be conducive to students who may display dyslexic tendencies. Additionally, I included tips for multisensory instructional techniques with these materials.
