Description
AARRRR you ready for a bossy R craftivity? This craftivity, which can be used for er, ir, and ur, asks students to build, blend, and read er, ir, and ur words. Students then create a supER hero to show off their tERrific list of bossy R words.
A Few Notes
After building, blending, and reading er, ir, and ur words together, post the word cards around the room. Give each of your students an er, ir, or ur recording sheet, and have them go around the room reading the different word cards. The students will write down the words that follow the bossy r rule they have on their paper. You could also place the word cards in a paper bag, and place your students in small groups. Have the students take turns pulling out the words and reading them. Together, they can decide who will record the word on their list, depending on which bossy r they have!
There are eight word cards for each bossy r, as well as a few blank cards incase you would like to write a few more words on them. Once students have written their words, their recording sheet becomes the front list for their supER hero!
When preparing your materials, you could copy the patterns onto different colors so all super heroes are different, or have each r-controlled vowel pair be a certain color. Students can also add hair to their SupER Kid to make them more personalized!
What's included:
-Pattern Pieces for the Super Kid
-A different writing list for each of the r-controlled vowel pairs-er, ir, ur
-Word cards to place around the room.
I hope you find this resource to be useful in helping your students learn about the Bossy R's! Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or recommendations. I would also greatly appreciate your Feedback and Rating!
Happy Teaching!
