This 9 page packet contains everything your students need to complete a document based activity (primary sources) on the Boston Massacre. Perfect addition to any American Revolution Unit. Can be used for classwork, group-work or homework. In this activity your students will:
1) Read several accounts of the Boston "Massacre" from British and colonial perspectives. They will also examine Paul Revere's engraving of the event.
2) Complete a graphic organizer that forces students to compare the different perspectives of what happened on that bloody day in 1770.
3) Students will then use what they have learned about the event to answer the following question:
"Based on the evidence, should the colonists have classified the events of March 5, 1770 as a "massacre" and allowed themselves to use this event as a contributing justification for war on their king? Were the colonists over-exaggerating?"
