Recently, I collected an assortment of bottle caps for an art project I was doing at a summer camp. After camp was done, I had a lot of caps left and I felt bad about throwing them all away. So.......my brain went to work and I came up with this bottle cap math activity. For years, I have had my students use 10-sided dice to create their own math problems and I thought giving them a set of bottle caps with the numbers zero through nine on them would be the same idea but with a different spin for the students. With this download, you will receive bottle cap numbers to fit basic water bottle caps and milk or juice caps. Simply print out the numbers on paper for the type of caps you have collected (I recommend cardstock for durability), glue the numbers into the caps (again, I recommend epoxy glue on top of the papers in the cap for durability), sort the caps into bags and your students are ready to go. I have also included worksheets for basic addition, basic subtraction, basic multiplication, two-digit addition and subtraction, two digit multiplication, and two numbers divided by one number. Just chose the concept you are teaching and your students are ready to create their own math problems!
