This full lesson plan has a warm-up, skill session, and gameplay with the rules to four square. Each part of this lesson can be changed based on the teacher's style of teaching. The following objectives will be covered:
Given a class session, students will identify and use safe practices in physical activity to demonstrate safety and responsibility to self and others by following all class rules according to established protocols through the entire lesson.
Given an explanation and demonstration, students will recognize and describe the concepts and game strategies of “Dribble Tag” warm-up game, by correctly responding to questions posed by the teacher with 100% accuracy.
Given a warm-up activity, students will engage in physical activities that promote physical fitness and health by completing developmentally appropriate health-related fitness and skill-related fitness activities according to the game called “Dribble Tag” with 100% accuracy.
Given an explanation and demonstration, the students will recognize the critical elements of 4 square, by correctly responding to the questions posed by the teacher reflecting on last week.
Given a practice session, the students will recognize and concepts of hand eye coordination and eye ball coordination while demonstrating their ability to play four square at each squads court.
This activity lesson can be changed to fit any grade level just by changing the skills of bounce and catch to striking/hitting without catching. Every student should learn to play a basic game of four square at any age.
